A letter from Rabbi Aaron Kriegel

Dear Prospective Member,

Congregation Beth Ahm is more than synagogue. It is in a very real sense family. It is what Eastern European Jews used to call a Schul, a home away from home, the kind of place that is filled with warmth. And more than that, children want to be here, and parents want to bring their children here.

Congregation Beth Ahm has always been my model of an ideal house of worship. I was born into this congregation, and I decided to become a rabbi because of this congregation. For many years I served as rabbi on the West Coast, but I always dreamed of coming back to that area of New Jersey where I could feel a certain unparalleled pleasure in being Jewish.

Indeed, the day that I returned, I knew that I was home.

We are a Conservative congregation deeply committed to changing the world, deeply committed to reaching out to the disenfranchised of this world. We recognize the humanity of every person, we know that every man and every woman was created in the image of God.

Our congregation recognizes the benefits of education. This year we already have planned courses in Yiddish, Kabalah, and Jewish art history. We also have a Beit Midrash on weekday mornings. Our school is based upon one idea, to make our children feel comfortable in whatever country and in whatever synagogue they may find themselves.

We are a God centered schul. We believe in a God who makes for salvation, a God who teaches us humility and compassion; who is reflected in Torah and through the words of our sages.

In truth, we are a perfect place to experience all the joy of being Jewish. We would like you to join with us. Come grow with Congregation Beth Ahm.

Sincerely,

Rabbi Aaron Kriegel
